When is skimmia in season?

Skimmia brings beauty all year round, but is particularly striking in the winter months. In spring, skimmia blooms with white/pink flowers, while the first new buds appear at the end of August. Come winter, their glossy leaves and festive red berries are a staple for Christmas.

How do I care for my skimmia foliage?

To care for your skimmia foliage, follow the below steps:

Potted skimmia:

Our potted skimmias appreciate a touch of brightness with partial shade. Water only when the soil is dry.

Skimmia foliage:

  • All foliage branches with woody stems should be recut diagonally and split base of stem with secateurs to increase water flow.
  • Remove all excess foliage before placing in cool water.
  • All foliage should be above the waterline and water should be changed regularly.
  • Your berries will respond best to temperatures between 10 and 15°C.
