Advice for women starting their careers?

My advice for Women starting their careers is to always remember why you started.

What would you tell your younger self now?

I would tell my younger self to not let her inner child go, and that someday she will be twenty-three years old, living in New York City and after a day of shooting a campaign; she is sliding down her hallway with socks on and Mariah Carey singing in the background. Because there is space for that little girl to slide down with socks on.

What has been your most pivotal career moment?

There have been a few moments in my career that I would glide as pivotal, but the uttermost one is working with Beyonce & Disney for ‘Black is King’, are there any more words to really be added.

How do you balance your work and life? Is this important?

I balance my work & life, by understanding that for every dream I have; there has to be a moment for Aweng, the little kid- the eager twenty-three year old & the passionate old soul. It is vital to take time to balance both life (personal) and work.

What do you hope for the future of women in business?

I hope for more ‘Yes’s, more room for ‘Yes’s’ and more room for women to give the ‘Yes’s.

What has been your biggest challenge in being a woman in business?

The biggest challenge has been the ‘No’s’. And picking myself back up, to go once more.
