Humidity

The Peace Lily loves humidity. If your bathroom gets lots of light, place your plant in there, or mist every few days to keep it happy.

Light Conditions

The Peace Lily is easy when it comes to light, managing well in most conditions, although it will be happier in a bright spot.

Watering

The Peace Lily is pretty resilient and will usually bounce back from a missed watering. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry.

Boston Fern Plant

Light Conditions

Like a lot of ferns, the Boston Fern is happiest in partial shade, so a room with dim light is ideal for this houseplant.

Watering

The Boston Fern likes moist soil, so check weekly and water whenever the top inch of soil is dry. Let any excess water drain off.

Light Conditions

The Fiddle Leaf Fig is easy-going in terms of light and will tolerate most light conditions as long as the sun isn’t too harsh. It will thrive with bright, indirect sunlight.

Watering

Water when the top soil becomes slightly dry and reduce watering in the winter. Try not to overwater as this may cause root rot.

Light Conditions

Aloe Vera prefers bright, indirect sunlight and doesn’t like to be in the shade.

Watering

Being used to desert environments, the Aloe Vera Plant doesn’t require frequent watering. Allow the top third of the soil to dry out before watering, and never let it stand in water as this may cause leaves to turn yellow.

Tortoiseshell Calathea Medallion

Tortoiseshell Calathea

Both pet-friendly and adaptable to medium light, this indoor Calathea plant is a great all-rounder for the house.

How to care for your plant

Humidity

High humidity conditions are a must for the Tortoiseshell Calathea. Try standing the plant on a wet pebble tray or misting daily to keep it happy.

Light Conditions

Whilst the Calathea can tolerate some shade, it prefers plenty of bright, indirect sunlight. Too much direct sunlight may fade some of the distinctive markings on its leaves over time.

Watering

The Calathea is a little difficult when it comes to watering. It likes to be kept in damp soil, but does not favour wet conditions for a long time. We find little and often is the best policy.

Watering

The Ivy Plant prefers damp but not waterlogged conditions, so water little and often and don’t let the soil dry out too much. Water at soil level to avoid getting the leaves wet.

Blue Wave Fern

Like many ferns, the Blue Wave Fern prefers humid conditions so be sure to mist regularly or leave in the bathroom for intervals for a steam.

Light Conditions

Partial light is preferable for the Blue Fern, although it will tolerate some bright indirect sunlight. Keep out of direct sun as this can burn its leaves.

Watering

The Blue Wave Fern likes to have damp soil at all times, so don’t let the soil dry out completely. Little and often seems to do the trick. Water at soil level to avoid getting leaves wet.

Watering

Water when the soil at the top of the pot becomes dry. Make sure your plant is not standing in any remaining water at the bottom of the pot.

Light Conditions

Keep away from direct, harsh sunlight and extreme temperatures. The potted hydrangea prefers gentle morning sun and afternoon shade.

Watering

Water at least twice a week and three times a week if the leaves look droopy. Always water the plant all the way around the container, not just in one place. Soil should be moist throughout and water should come out of the bottom of the pot.

Light Conditions

Potted roses love sunshine and should be in a position that receives sun for at least half of the day to encourage the most luscious flowers.

Watering

Potted roses should be kept evenly moist throughout the growing season and require frequent watering. In temperate conditions, water deeply once a week, increasing this as the weather gets warmer. Water at the base of the plant to avoid damaging the delicate flowers.
