Define the purpose of your wreath. Is it set to hang pride of place on your front door? Or will it be adorning a chimney breast, or becoming part of a festive tablescape? Once you have decided the one - or many! - ways in which you will be using your wreath, you will be able to choose your size and style.
If your wreath is to be displayed on your front door, attention to detail is key. As a rule, your wreath should cover between 50 to 75% of your door's width, leaving a minimum of 5 inches of space either side for a balanced look. Needless to say, your wreath should always be hung centrally to keep things on the right side of polished.
Consider what will work in your own space. Will you be hanging your wreath in the top, middle or bottom half of your door? This may indicate the size and style of wreath that will best suit your surroundings. Get creative with different options - perhaps you have the dream bay window that will play the perfect host to a dramatically extravagant sized wreath? Go for it! Christmas is the ideal time to make a statement.

Firstly, you can simply attach a length of your ribbon to the back of your wreath, and fix in place on the inside of your door, altering its length and drop to suit your space. Alternatively, you can loop your ribbon through the top centre of your wreath, and tie in a bow around your door knocker. Opt to keep things tonal by coordinating your ribbon with a billowing bow in the same shade. We love adding an indulgent touch of velvet ribbon in rich red, festive gold, or deep violet.

Always check that your chosen nail size can carry the weight of your wreath.
